This Privacy Policy is published by Ezi Services Inc. and sets out how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information in connection with the Ezi App Platform and its related services. This Privacy Policy continues the Terms of Service of the Ezi App and both documents must be read together.

This Privacy Policy has been developed in compliance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act ("PIPEDA"), SC 2000, c 5, and its Breach of Security Safeguards Regulations (SOR/2018-64). It also complies with applicable Provincial Privacy Laws including the British Columbia Personal Information Protection Act (BC PIPA) and the Alberta Personal Information Protection Act (AB PIPA). Where Ezi Services Inc. processes personal information of Quebec residents, we comply with An Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector as modernized by Law 25 (effective September 2023). For users in the European Union, we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Regulation 2016/679.

Ezi Services Inc. shall not: (a) be subject to confidentiality obligations regarding User-Generated Content except as specified in this Privacy Policy or required by law; (b) be obligated to pay any compensation for User-Generated Content; or (c) be required to respond to submissions of User-Generated Content.

Ezi Services Inc. has designated a Privacy Officer who is accountable for our compliance with PIPEDA and this Privacy Policy. Information Collection

Ezi Services Inc. collects certain personally identifiable information about you, including information reasonably capable of being associated with you ("Personal Information").

We require Contact Information and Financial Information when you register an account. Examples of Personal Information collected include but are not limited to:

  1. Contact Information: Your first and last name, postal address, telephone number, and email address.

  2. Billing Data: Your payment instrument number (credit or debit card), expiration date, and security code as necessary to process payments. We do not store full card details — only the last 4 digits and card brand are retained. Full payment data is handled by our PCI-DSS compliant payment processor, Stripe.

  3. Identity Information: If you are a Service Provider, we may collect personal information such as your date of birth, address, national identification number, and criminal record check results, as provided by you or by our Third-Party Agents, to the extent permitted by law in your jurisdiction, to validate your identity.

  4. Financial Information: To facilitate payments, we may collect bank routing numbers, tax information, taxpayer identification numbers, and other payment information, as applicable. We use this information to operate the Platform and ensure payments are processed correctly.

  5. Promotional Information: Optional newsletters, surveys, and contests. Where you consent, we use your data to send tailored communications or manage the applicable offering.

  6. Content Information: Information you send in emails or chat messages, including inquiries and in-platform communications. Non-user-identifiable content may be used for service improvement purposes.

Information Ezi Services Inc. Collects Automatically

Device Data: data about the type of device or browser you use, your device's operating system, internet service provider, regional and language settings, and device identifiers such as IP address. When you visit and interact with the Platform, Ezi Services Inc. may collect this information automatically through cookies or other technologies ("Device Information"). We use Device Information to monitor geographic usage patterns and for security and fraud prevention purposes.

Location Data: imprecise location data derived from an IP address or data indicating a city or postal code level, and with your consent, precise GPS location data to determine your current location and display a relevant location map. Precise real-time location is shared with matched Service Providers or Customers only during an active Booking and solely for the purpose of facilitating that Booking. Precise location data is not sold to third parties. Aggregate or anonymized location data may be used for platform analytics. We will not share your current location with other Users outside the context of an active Booking.

Cookies: When you visit the Platform, your browser may transmit information through cookies and equivalent technologies. We use persistent cookies (which remain on your device for extended periods) for login information, checkout processing, session information, and personalization. We use session cookies (which expire when you close your browser) to enable Platform features, understand usage patterns, monitor traffic routing, and identify visited areas of the Platform. We also use analytics software including Amplitude, Google Analytics, and Firebase Analytics, each of which operates under its own privacy policy. You may opt out of analytics tracking through each provider's respective opt-out tool, or by adjusting your browser's cookie settings. Essential cookies required for core Platform functionality cannot be disabled.

You may control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking certain cookies may affect Platform functionality.

How We Use Your Information

Our primary goal in collecting your information is to provide you with an enhanced experience when using the Services. We use your information to:

  • Operate and make available the Platform — connecting you with other Users to enable posting, selection, completion, and payment for Service Requests;

  • Billing and fraud prevention — to ensure a secure environment and comply with our legal obligations;

  • Conduct identification, criminal background, and right-to-work checks, where applicable and to the extent permitted by local law, to ensure the safety of our Users and the integrity of the Platform;

  • Analyze Platform usage to improve services, grow our business, and develop new features;

  • Communicate with you via email, SMS, push notifications, or other means with transactional information, administrative notices, and — with your consent where required — marketing communications;

  • Provide customer support and resolve inquiries;

  • Conduct internal market research and troubleshoot problems;

  • Assist in the resolution of complaints and disputes between Users;

  • Enforce our Terms of Service;

  • Improve User Experience and develop and improve the Ezi App and its services; and

  • For any other purpose with your consent.

Automated Decision-Making: Ezi Services Inc. uses automated systems to match Customers with Service Providers, calculate platform fees, and detect potential fraud or policy violations. Where automated processes may result in account suspension or material consequences for a User, we will notify the affected User and provide an opportunity to request human review by contacting our support team.

We may release Personal Information or other collected information when we believe such release is necessary to: (I) comply with legal requirements and processes; (II) identify, contact, or bring legal action against persons who have caused or may cause injury to a third party or us; (III) defend or respond to claims brought or threatened against us; (IV) provide to vendors, service providers, and technicians who assist with processing and storage; or (V) otherwise protect and assert the rights and interests of Ezi Services Inc., our employees, service providers, Users, or others. Any such release decision is made in our sole discretion.

Ezi Services Inc. is not responsible for third parties' use of your personal information once shared in accordance with this Policy.

In the event Ezi Services Inc. is reorganized, sold, or merged with another company, we will notify you by email and/or prominent in-app notice at least 30 days before your personal information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy. You will have the opportunity to request deletion of your personal information before the transfer if you do not wish to continue under the new entity.

Information Sharing

Third-Party Agents. We share information, including Identity Information, with entities that process it on our behalf for our business purposes. Third-Party Agents include Stripe (payment processing), background check providers, data analytics services (Amplitude, Google Analytics, Firebase), website hosting providers, fraud prevention services, communication services, and technical support providers. Each Third-Party Agent operates under its own privacy policy. We contractually prohibit Third-Party Agents from retaining, using, or disclosing your information for purposes other than performing services for us.

Third-Party Platforms. The Ezi App connects with third-party services such as Stripe. These third-party services process data under their own privacy policies. Ezi Services Inc. is not responsible for the independent data practices of any third-party service, and you are encouraged to review their privacy policies before using their services. The Platform may link to other websites or applications not maintained by Ezi Services Inc. Ezi Services Inc. is not responsible for the privacy policies or practices of any third-party websites or applications. Your use of any third-party website or application is at your own risk.

Opting Out / Unsubscribe

We collect your name and email address to distribute newsletters and other service communications. Your email address is used solely to deliver requested information and is not shared with third parties for commercial purposes. We will never sell or rent your email address.

Our email communications comply with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) as amended from time to time. You may unsubscribe from commercial emails at any time by clicking 'unsubscribe' at the bottom of any commercial email or by adjusting your notification settings in your account. Unsubscribing from commercial emails does not affect required transactional service communications.

How Long Is This Data Stored For?

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law. Our general retention periods are as follows:

  • Account and profile data: retained for the life of the account, plus 2 years following account closure for legal compliance purposes;

  • Financial transaction records: retained for 7 years as required by the Canada Revenue Agency;

  • Identity verification and background check data: retained only while your account is active, then deleted or anonymized within 90 days of account closure;

  • In-platform communications and chat logs: retained for 1 year from the date of the associated Service Request; and

  • Analytics and usage data: retained in anonymized or aggregated form for up to 3 years for platform improvement purposes.

If you desire immediate deletion of your personal data upon account closure, you may email our Privacy Officer at samer@ezi-app.com to that effect. We will action deletion requests within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Security

Ezi Services Inc. implements technical, administrative, and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, and alteration. However, no data transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us. We cannot be responsible for the theft, destruction, or inadvertent disclosure of information resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

The safety and security of your information also depends on you. Where you have chosen a password for access to parts of the Platform, you are responsible for keeping that password confidential. We advise you not to share your password with anyone. You should notify us immediately if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account.

Security Breach Notification

In the event of a breach of security safeguards involving your personal information that creates a real risk of significant harm to you, Ezi Services Inc. will notify you as required by the Breach of Security Safeguards Regulations under PIPEDA. Notification will be made as soon as feasible by email to the address on your account. We will also notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and, where applicable, other regulatory authorities. Reports of breaches are maintained for a period of 24 months.

User Data Rights

By using the Services, you provide consent for the collection and use of your personal information in compliance with this Privacy Policy. This does not affect lawful processing based on other legal bases, such as contractual obligation, compliance with applicable laws, or legitimate interests.

Child Protection

The Platform is not intended for or directed to persons under 18 years of age. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into binding contracts. Ezi Services Inc. does not knowingly collect or maintain Personal Information from persons under the age of 18. If we learn that we have inadvertently gathered Personal Information from a person under 18, we will take reasonable measures to delete or destroy such information from our records promptly.

Your Rights Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have the following rights under the GDPR in addition to other rights described in this Privacy Policy:

  • Right to Access: You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.

  • Right to Rectification: You may request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information.

  • Right to Erasure ('Right to be Forgotten'): You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions.

  • Right to Restriction of Processing: You may request that we restrict processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

  • Right to Data Portability: You may request that we provide your personal information in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, and transmit it to another controller where technically feasible.

  • Right to Object: You may object to processing of your personal information based on legitimate interests, including for direct marketing purposes.

  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal.

  • Right Not to be Subject to Automated Decision-Making: You have the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that produces significant legal or similarly significant effects concerning you. You may request human review of automated decisions.

  • Right to Lodge a Complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority if you believe our processing of your personal information violates applicable law.

Ezi Services Inc. acts as the data controller for personal information collected through the Platform. To exercise any of these rights, contact our Privacy Officer at samer@ezi-app.com. We will respond within 30 days of receiving your request.

Right to Access or Correct Personal Information (Canadian Users)

You have the right to access and correct your personal information. To review or correct your personal information, you may visit your account profile page or contact our Privacy Officer at https://ezi.services/contact/.

Upon receipt of a written request, we will provide you with a copy of your Personal Information within 30 days, subject to limited exceptions (for example, where the information also pertains to another User). In such circumstances, we will provide reasons for any denial upon request. We will make every reasonable effort to keep your Personal Information accurate and up-to-date.

Additional Rights for Quebec Residents

If you are a resident of Quebec, you have additional rights under An Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector (as amended by Law 25):

  • The right to be informed of the existence of any personal information we hold about you;

  • The right to access your personal information and have it corrected;

  • The right to data portability — to receive your personal information in a structured, commonly used technological format;

  • The right to de-indexation — to request that hyperlinks providing access to your personal information be de-indexed or that dissemination of such information be stopped, where such information could cause you serious injury; and

  • The right to withdraw consent to the collection, use, or communication of your personal information, subject to legal and contractual restrictions.
